Should there be an Optical Drive section on this forum? Just a suggestion.

Anyway, has anyone gotten ANY Blu-Ray drive to work in Win 7 64-bit yet? I've got the LG GGC-H20L Blu-ray/HD combo and I was at least able to get the drive to lose the caution/warning symbol in the device manager thanks to the reg edit in another thread. But I still can't get the drive to read any blu-rays. I've using Total Media Theatre which is fantastic in Vista.

Just wondering what some others have encountered on their Win 7 journey. Anything with 32-bit(I might triple boot just to find out)? Anything with a different program? Anybody with a different drive? Heck, anybody with the SAME drive?

Ok a little more info. The LG GGC-H20L now has updated firmware and now SEES that it has a disc and even knows what the discs' name is but I am still unable to play the blu-rays in Total Media Theatre as well as PowerDVD. Also tried turning it back to Vista Compatibility to no avail. Still not sure if this is due to Win 7 or just Win 7 64-bit. Hard to say.

Anybody had Blu-ray work at all with ANY program in Win7?

I have the same drive and I had no problems in 32bit 7. I'm also using PowerDVD 8 Ultra. Still doing some tweaking but overall working great.

Oh awesome, I guess I will try triple booting then. I want to use Win 7 more but I hate having to switch back and forth from W7 to Vista all the time. Maybe I'll run 32-bit until W7MC gets some native Blu-Ray Support. THAT would be the ticket. Thanks very much for your reply at least now I have a hint at the problem. I'll report back with findings when I get it up and running.

Hmm I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, I can't get Blu-Ray to play in 32-bit OR 64-bit, Total Media Theatre, PowerDVD7 or 8. I've spent so much time on it. The firmware is up-to-date. I'm using the latest version of PowerDVD. when I put in a disc, PowerDVD starts up and it seems like it's about to play but then the upper left corner says stopped. Everytime. I just don't get it.

Could it be a HDCP problem ?

On my main pc I've got a philips LCD monitor that's not HDCP compliant, so if I want a Blu-Ray to play I run AnyDVD HD.

I also had problems with Blu-Ray playback with my HTPC running Vista 32bit into a new Sony KDLW4500 via HDMI. The graphics card in the HTPC was a new ATI 4870 and Blu-Ray will only play with Catalyst 8.9, anything later than that driver will not play.

I wouldn't THINK so considering it works just fine in Vista 32-bit. Maybe I should grab a copy of AnyDVD and see if that will take care of it anyway. Actually maybe I should try my oldest Blu-Ray as well. I've only been trying my newer one. I'll try that a little later.

Although now thinking again, those newer blu-rays are still working fine in Vista without AnyDVD. Hmmmmm.

It was definitely ATI that mucked mine up with later drivers in Vista.
I had installed the ATI catalyst 8.9 in Win7 before I'd remembered, I should have tried the ATI beta drivers and then tried playing a Blu-Ray.
The next time I do a clean Win7 install I will try it out.

This is a little off topic for that I apologize and If I have broken any rules by doing so, please let me know so I know not to again!

But all the blu-ray burners I see are at a max or f what 4x write? so a single layer blu-ray disc is 25 gigs how long does it take to burn a full disc, do they even sell dual layer blank blu-ray discs yet?! The other question I have is when do you think the blank media will come down in price, seen one sigle blank 25 gig blu-ray disc for $24
