Hey guys,

Just got a blu-ray burner from Newegg (OEM version), and am currently looking to find a good software program that can play and burn blu-ray discs. From what I've read so far Cyberlink, Corel, and Arcsoft offer good programs. What do you guys recommend? Have you had issues with any of these companies or know if they work pretty well. Thanks.

The race is only between Power DVD and Total Media Theatre.

My personal choice would be TMT.

But I would suggest that you download the trial versions of both, try and choose the one you like best.

Does the trial version of PowerDVD support BluRay? I believe that it didn't, last I checked.

I have at no time tried the trial version. The download page says "Blu-ray playback in the trial version is limited to PCs with hardware acceleration"

That sounds promising.

I've had a bluray burner and player for a while and so have old versions of Cyberlink Media Suite 8 and Total Media Theatre 3. Cyberlink's burning utilities I've not had problems with burning Bluray discs (this is the only software on the system I'd call bloatware), but I had some trouble playing I think it was BBCs Wild China disc with PowerDVD and had the same problem with TMT3 until I did an update from within the program. Cyberlink still will not play some of the newer discs but since TMT3 plays them I'm not buying a new Cyberlink Suite version.

After the TMT update Wild China and some other discs played without problems; I don't recall exactly the messages displayed (DRM related) but it was a problem with playing newer discs as older ones were not a problem.
