Solved Blue pixels on my screen

I am not quite sure what the issue is, but I really need to find out. I just bought a new monitor and for some reason I am getting flashing blue pixels in random spots on my screen, it seems to be in places where there are grayish colors. I have tried taking a screenshot and they dont show up in the picture so I dont think its my monitor.

This is a custom build pc and its my first so I could have done something wrong. I am not sure if its my graphics card or what the deal is. I have checked my temperatures to make sure it wasnt overheating. and my graphics card is fine but my processor is hitting around 80 C or higher (when Idle). I know that is way too high. I just dont know what to do at this point. could anyone give advice on anything I could do or what my problem could be?

It could be your graphics card, but I would suspect a stuck pixel.

yeah it isnt stuck pixels. :/ Its like blinking ones all over. what do you think i should do? just return it for a new one?

Does it happen when you change the refresh rate?

If it only happens on some, but not all rates then the display is not reading the signal properly. Try other connections; the VGA cables or go to a HDMI connection.

Does it happen with a different display on this machine? This would test the card.

Can you try this monitor with another machine? This would test the monitor.

havent tried changing the refresh rate,

right now im on an hdmi connection, earlier i was connected to a tv up until i got my new monitor, and the tv wasnt doing it to my knowledge. I will try the vga connection after I try changing the refresh rate, (for refresh rate, would it be in monitor options or my computer options?)

I tried connecting my laptop and the pixels were gone so I am fairly sure it isnt the monitor. (unless my laptop being a lower resolution would make a difference?)

Rate settings could be at either or both. Try going to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Change Display Settings
Then on the Screen Resolution window click on Advanced Settings.
Then on the Monitor Tab.
You may also have a Graphics and Media Control Panel Tab.
There might also be settings included with the OSD controls built into your monitor.

In a way this doesn't make sense, you connected your LT to your desktop?

If the pixels were gone then I would lean towards an okay card, but bad monitor.

The lower refresh rate could make a difference, can you match the monitor's refresh rate your having trouble with to the LT's rate?

I am hooking up my desktop now, Cabels I am connection are DVI (I dont know what that does, Do I need it connected?) plugged into my graphics card, and then a VGA cable plugged into my graphics card via a DVI/VGA converter plug (my graphics card, MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II, has two DVI ports and a mini HDMI.) and I will see if it changes from the hdmi

no i connected my laptop to my monitor via HDMI, to make sure it wasnt the monitor (I just extended the display) and the pixels werent there, so I dont think the monitor has an issue, (like i said Idk, if the laptop having a lower resolution would change if those pixels are there).

ok i booted up on my vga input. but as soon as it got through startup, it switched to my dvi, am I supposed to only have one of them plugged in?

anyway, I am on DVI now and the pixels arent there yet, but i think they didnt show up before until the computer had been running for a bit, I will see what happens though.

I tried running a game (audiosurf) and its running amazing so far. I think the problem could have been as simple as switching my video cable!

Digital Video Interface is a step up from Video Graphics Array, it can be used in place of High Definition Media Interface, but manufacturers have found that DVI works best for Computer monitors, and HDMI for TV monitors.

The digital market has now settled on the HDMI interface for high-definition media delivery, and DVI more exclusive to the computer market.

It sounds like it is pumping a DVI signal through the VGA cable.

What is the other cable you have connected, is it the HDMI? Leaving both connected shouldn't hurt.

Yes, mis-matched cables to the signal your producing would cause poor performance. Let it run, and see if it acts up.

everything looks great, blue pixels gone! but my gpu is running around 45-55 idle and 55-70 running, is that normal? I could arrange parts in my computer better to get better airflow. but id rather not if that isnt too bad.

According to this: Power Consumption And Temperature : Nvidia GeForce GTX 460: the idle temp is a little high, but the load temp is is right on. Your 460 is the bottom two listed in the lower graph. Notice the different ram sizes.
I wouldn't be concerned unless you start to see regular temps in the 90° to 100° c range.

Do you have adjustable fan speeds? Don't go under 40% at idle.
