Blue Screen - Frequent stuttering - Internet down on crash

Hi all,

Recently my PC has begun to crash (mainly when playing games). Sometimes I get the BSOD, sometimes it just outright restarts without it.

It begun with a blue screen error: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I restarted and all seemed OK. Though after a while, I think a few minutes after booting up a game, it crashed again.

I got a different blue screen error this time: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I've had this error a couple of times since, but not a repeat of the first.

I looked for solutions online. I've uninstalled a fair few drivers, and I've completely removed my graphics driver and reinstalled it. I've cleared up the registry, startup, etc. I've opened up my PC and cleared it out.

Now it seems to just crash to a black screen and start the boot up process again.

In addition, I notice during games that it stutters/freezes for about half a second every 10-60 seconds.

Furthermore, the fans on my PC are actually pretty loud. Even just then when creating the DM Log file.

Also, when my PC crashes as per the above, the internet on other devices also goes down. Very strange.

I would love to know what the issue(s) is/are.

Also, just ran SpeedFan to see temps / fan speeds; it's shortly after startup without loading up anything major...

Do the PSU readings look OK?

I can't open the latest dump file for some reason, but here are couple of things that show in earlier dumps.

Your ATI driver has been flagged.

Download the 13.9 driver from here then use AMD Uninstall Utility to remove all traces of your current driver, CCC etc. Reboot and install the 13.9 driver.

   Note

When installing choose 'Advanced' or 'Custom' (whichever option is available, just not Express) and uncheck everything except the video driver.

Your Atheros network adapter driver is also very old and needs updating.

Do you have Driver Verifier enabled? If so disable it.

Driver Verifier is not enabled. I enabled it a while ago when trying out solutions but have since disabled it. I also went through the process of diabling it again just to make sure.

The driver for the network adapter doesn't seem to have updated, I don't think. I've installed the file you suggested, but when I go to the network adapter and check the driver details, the 'Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller' is still saying 27.09.2011. My TP-LINK Wirless driver is saying 23.11.2010.

I've also uninstalled and updated my ATI drivers/software, as per your directions. I'll let you know if the issues are still happening.

Could you get back to me on the network driver update, please?

Also, any idea if fans / temps are causing this issue, or should I look at that next?

EDIT: Also uploaded an updated Log Collector .zip after all of the above has been completed and a restart done.

Is your TP-Link wireless device onboard or a PnP device?

I bought it separately - added it to the board, wireless antennae sticking out the back of the PC.

Think it's one of those tiny PCI/e boards.

OK, visit the vendor's website and search for the most recent drivers for your exact model.

There was no new log to analyse in those last set of dumps mate, but everything previous was pointing to those two drivers. Test with the new TP-Link driver and report back.

OK I downloaded the new drivers and installed them using the installer bundled with a utility on the TP-Link site.

I checked before restarting and the driver date hadn't updated. I restarted, thinking that may update it.

After getting stuck on the Starting Windows boot screen and restarting using the button on the front of the PC, I am now looking at the Startup Repair programming 'Attemptkng repairs...'

Its been on this for some time now and will not let me cancel.

Any ideas?

Let it run for a while, it should complete. Once it does, check to see if you have a Restore Point set to before the date you enabled Driver Verifier.

OK it completed but was unable to do any repairs.

I had several restore points, all of which were today :/ Anyway, I restored to before I installed the TP-Link driver and I'm now up and running again.

I don't actually think I've got anywhere with the issues, though.

Practially, yes.

I just got a blue screen again - I was too slow to take a photo of it, but because it went to a blue screen it also made a dump file. I've attached it.
