Dear reader, I hope someone on this forum can help me with a BSOD Windows 7 x64 problem.
My PC crashes in a black screen, looped sound state. This happens when watching a video or when running a music program (not often when just browsing strangely enough)
I updated my Geforce 220 video card to the latest driver (and deleted the old one beforhand). I hope someone can guide me to an answer.

An error log of a bluescreen after the PC rebooted out of itself:

Gebeurtenisnaam van probleem: BlueScreen
Versie van besturingssysteem: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Landinstelling-id: 1043

Attached my PC information, and the error logs.

Thanks very much in advance for any help.

Kind regards,

We need the actual dmp file.

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps Let us know if you need help http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...op-0x116-video_tdr_error-troubleshooting.html

Thank you for your quick reply.
Indeed, my PC doesnt always reboot itself and gives the error message, sometimes is just hangs with looped sound and a black screen.
I had removed all dust earlier but unfortunately this didnt cure the problem. Thank you for the link, I will try the temperature check programmes and all.

Attached is the dmp & sysdata file of wich the Windows error message said they might help explain the problem.

There isnt a conclusive cause but there are several things that are known to cause them

1-sptd.sys

Please remove any CD visualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, called sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller DuplexSecure - Downloads DuplexSecure - FAQ

when you're done you can use this Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) in its place.

2-McAffe
.

Remove and replace with Microsoft Security essentials.

How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe)

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

3-Old drivers needing updating

Code:
netr28x.sys 2/25/2009 10:02:09 PM fffff880`044c3000 fffff880`04562000 0x0009f000 0x49a60631
Rt64win7.sys 2/26/2009 4:04:13 AM fffff880`0456f000 fffff880`045a1000 0x00032000 0x49a65b0d

How To Find Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

Very good to see some things that might help!
I have removed daemon tools lite and am now trying to disable the SPTD driver. Little problem however, SPTDinst-v179-x64.exe will not work ("no valid win-7 application").
So i am now in regrededit, trying in that way, but i do not see what/how to set DWORD Start value to 4
( made a screenshot of the regedit )

- sorry if this is a rather simple question, my know-how of the pc is limited and i am a tad scared of making things even worse.

thanks in advance!

McAffee is now , with clean install , replaced by windows security.
Struggeling a bit with the drivers though.. can;t find anything on: netr28x.sys

For Rt64win7.sys it seems i need a new driver for: Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20), i can however not find a proper one for x64 windows7.

hope you can help me out with this.
