Hello everyone,

wonder if i can ask a general question here about the use of bluetooth connectivity.

just started using a Nokia 2323c-2 mobile phone -not a flash unit really ...got it as it seemed simple so I thought even I would be able to understand it :-)

Of the many features I don't understand one is blue tooth. Since this laptop also has bluetooth I thought I'd see if the phone can talk to the laptop - or vice versa. I successfully added the computer to the phone (ie phone states "computer name" under paired devices but computer hasn't recognised phone for some reason.
Anyway how might I use this 'pairing'?
What sort of tasks could be done for example?

ah ... technology ... what gets me is that it's so hard to learn about ... so thankfully there are places like this. I mean you'd think Nokia might say "well we want to sell phones to older people and non tech people so we'll put a plain English descritption and explanation up on our website." ...but oh no just more technical jargon.

Check if your phone's bluetooth visibility is set to show or hide your phone.

Depends on your phone but here are some tasks I have done via Bluetooth on my phone, paired with a headset, use phone as a modem to access the internet, transfer files to/from PC, played music to a remote device.

I got this from an on-line manual for your phone:

This device is compliant with Bluetooth Specification 2.0 + EDR supporting the following
profiles: generic access, generic object exchange, hands-free, headset, object push, file
transfer, personal area network access, dial-up networking, service discovery
application, SIM access, and serial port. To ensure interoperability between other
devices supporting Bluetooth technology, use Nokia approved accessories for this
model. Check with the manufacturers of other devices to determine their compatibility
with this device.

Built my first computer (8Mhz 8088cpu, 640K RAM, 20MB HDD, 2 360K floppy drives) in 1985 and have been building them for myself, relatives and friends ever since.
Thanks Strollin,

the phone shows the pairing with the pc but I can't get the pc to recognise the phone.
I thought I'd learn to transfer some data (in this case it would be helpful for me to have
a backup of my phonelist copied onto the pc) but I can't work it out...have been reading the manual
but it's no help. thanks for sharing .. it will get me a little more convinced that I can get it some day.
