Hi, just registered on this site which seems awesome!

I'm having difficulties with a couple of bluescreens lately, and 3 of them (got 4 total) have been said to be caused by the ntoskrnl.exe driver. And I just recently reinstalled my whole computer. Had Vista before.

Motherboard: ASUS P5N-E SLI
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS
Memory: 3 GB DDR (I think)
CPU: Intel Quad Core Q6600

Dump file is attached.

Thanks in advance

Alright, I've read through that post and done as instructed, files are attached.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (x86), I just bought windows from the store. Original OS was Vista.

My hardware is from september 2007, so about 3 years old. I did a total reinstall when I installed windows 7.

Thanks

I'm in dire need of help guys, the BSOD's have happened like 5 times this morning already, and now I can't even start-up the PC because I get a message saying "System BOOT Fail, please reset the setup to default and try again" Or something like that. I got that the first time after I updated my bios to try and solve the BSOD's. But now more frequently, and I have to start over and over again to get it to work. But now it looks very dark..

The attachments are in my reply above, please have a look and help me!

HI Dyna. Thanks for uploading the files. I looked at all of your dumps. Two were corrupted and didn't give much information. I do find an almost guaranteed BSOD maker on your system:
ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).
I find the following outdated drivers loaded on your system. Older drivers can and do cause memory corruption and crashes. nvm62x64.sys is indicated as being involved in the crash. It is obsolete. Update these drivers:
AsUpIO.sys Sun Jul 05 22:21:38 2009 - AsUpIO.sys – Asus utility driver. ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

nvm62x64.sys Fri Oct 17 17:01:06 2008 - nVidia Ethernet Networking Driver (nForce chipset driver) Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers. Update your chipset drivers.

nvstor.sys Wed May 20 02:45:37 2009 - nVidia Storage Drivers Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers
Update these drivers, reboot and let's see how your system runs. Please update us. If yo have another BSOD, upload it and we will go from there.

EDIT: Didn't see you there Carl!

Hi,

That "System BOOT Fail, please reset the setup to default and try again" is referring to the new BIOS not working as it should. You may have to roll back the BIOS.

As for your BSODs, they appear to be hardware caused. There is only one driver I can see that may be causing them:

ASACPI.sys - ASUS ACPI Driver; the 2005 version is almost guaranteed to cause BSODs on Windows 7 systems. Update link here, update instructions (slideshow) here (note that in the last step you select the ATK0110 driver in the list instead of the one mentioned)

If you still get problems after you update that then run these hardware tests:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-cpu-stress-test-prime95.html (run the Blend test as well as the Small FFT test)

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

Reventon

Nice, updated the nvidia drivers and the ACACPI.sys driver now. And my computer is booting every time without fault.

I have hard time finding the AsUpIO.sys download though, and I couldn't find it in my C:\Windows\system32\drivers folder either. If you mind, assist me further on that one, thanks.

Other than that I will report back to you if get any more BSOD's.

Again, thanks a bunch! :)

You are welcome and good job of working with the drivers. Go to this site, ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-, download the AsUPIO driver to your desktop, and install it from there.

I'm glad to hear you have not had another BSOD. That is great news! :) I hope it continues.

I believe that the AsUpIO.sys driver is actually fully up to date.

Have you had any more BSODs since your last post?

Hi! Yeah, I haven't searched more for that AsUpIO.sys driver. But everything is going smooth at the moment! Haven't had one bluescreen yet!

Only thing was one boot fail again, dunno why that happened, but I loaded default settings in the BIOS setup and it booted up again normally.

So thanks A LOT again! :D If I ever experience any more problems I'll come back to you. And I'll recommend you guys to my friends if they ever get problems! Thanks :)
