Bluetooth disconnects on PC accessed by RDP when session closes

I have an HP 800 G2 Desktop Mini, with built in Broadcom WiFi/Bluetooth adapter. I'm setting it up as a media player, to be accessed mostly by RDP from another Windows 7 PC. All fine, except...

When I have the remote PC playing some music, and close the remote desktop session to it, it automatically disconnects the bluetooth speakers. (Edit: to be clear, the music is played at the remote PC which is connected to the BT speakers. The BT driver is from HP's site; the latest they have.)

I was using an older HP PC with a 3rd party bluetooth dongle previous to this, an almost identical setup overall, and that didn't do the above. That had its own BT issues but at least it stayed connected.

Has anyone come across this or has any ideas how to stop it disconnecting?

I have disabled the ability of the PC to turn of BT for power saving, and the remote desktop session is only closed; I'm not logged off. I can't see anything else I can do.

The only thing I can think of is the combo adapter. Outside of that I have no idea.

Maybe. I realised that the BT is being reconnected every time I connect to RDP, as well as the disconnecting. I'm connecting on wired LAN, btw, not using the WLAN.

I've just tried plugging the dongle from the older PC into the new one, installing its driver and turning off the radio on the built in adapter. That works as expected - no silly behaviour with RDP connections. I'll probably keep it like that rather than try troubleshooting the issue. I have a feeling I will just be banging my head against the wall with this one. Not that the dongle is perfect either... that one sometimes needs re-pairing and for some reason causes the PC to take over a minute to shut down when the dongle is plugged in. Oh well.
