Bluetooth gamepad

Is there such a thing such as a Bluetooth accelerometer-based (i.e. motion-sensing) gamepad/controller that is guaranteed to work in Windows 7 x64 with a Broadcom dongle? Or is it that I am asking too much?

Does the DualShock 3 work fine in Windows 7 in Bluetooth mode?

Hi, a PS3 Dualshock 3 or Six Axis controller should work perfectly with Windows 7 x64.

Thanks. Before I rush out and buy two of these, let me just double check so that there's no misunderstanding: the Bluetooth part is essential: I have quite a few high quality expensive Bluetooth Broadcom-based dongles, and it has been impossible to make the Wiimote work with any of them. I am hence hoping that PS3 gear is more Bluetooth friendly than Nintendo stuff.

Just so you know, Wii Remote's are notorious to setup to use a PC's bluetooth connection (mainly because they won't pair), if your looking to get a Wii Remote working with your PC, follow the guide at How to Use Your Wii Remote As a Mouse on Windows - wikiHow, it's what I used to get mine working with my PC last year.

Thanks. I don't really want Bluesoleil on my computer, plus, my dongles might not work with Bluesoleil to begin with... I guess i'll stick with PS3 gear then, many thanks. I'll purchase a DualShock 3 today, and give it a try.

Another question: is the Playstation 3 Blu-Ray remote also compatible with a PC? ...meaning, will I be able to pair it with my Broadcom dongles? I don't suppose this one has an accelerometer as well, does it?

Hi, the PS3 Blu Ray remote doesn't have an accelerometer in it unfortunately.

I have no idea whether it would work with a PC using Bluetooth, I have no way of testing it.

The only thing I have gathered is that the default pairing code for the PS3 Blu Ray remote is 0000 which isn't very helpful.

If you know someone who has a remote, see if they can get it to work with their PC, otherwise I would not recommend paying all that money for something that isn't guaranteed to work.

Does the DualShock 3 work fine in Windows 7 in Bluetooth mode?

I've tried and tried and couldn't figure out how to get it working with my internal BT, so I bought an adapter and still couldn't, so I just use it with the cable. Some have had success though, so have a read of the MotionJoy Forums.

Alright, I can now report back: the latest MIJ drivers killed my USB ports, so I had to do a restore--thank God I had this option activated for my system drives. See here and here. Even if it had worked, I still would not have liked it, as MIJ drivers actually replace/cripple your existing Bluetooth stack, and kill any perspectives of using any other BT devices with your BT dongle. That's far from kosher BT behavior.

So the quest continues: is there any well-BT-behaved accelerometer-based gamepad out there? The closest I could find is a BT accelerometer mouse, that, for now, is not sold in NAmerica.
