Hi all,

I have BT model: Microsoft Bluetooth notebook mouse 5000.

I can make it discoverable but 7 doesn't seem to see it.

I do not see a BT option in the control panel but there is a Bluetooth support service present in the Services window (and it is started).

The mouse is brand new and doesn't seem defective, I haven't tried it on another computer though, I don't have any friends with rigs that are BT ready.

Any pointers?

Thanks,

Phil

Hi,

1. You've got to enable the 'discovery' feature on your mouse
2. There should be a Bluetooth icon on your taskbar/Start > Control Panel > Device & Printers > Add A Bluetooth device
3. You've got to pair it up first, using the Pairing code provided by Microsoft Mouse 5000
4. Once the device is paired up, Windows should automatically install the generic/Microsoft BT Mouse 5000 drivers and recognise it a HID device
5. Should work!
6. Otherwise, after pairing it, you could install the prepackaged driver CD provided with your purchase

Hope this helps!

Hi Seb

Here it goes:

1: Check

2: Failed

The only thing the "add devices" finds is my wireless printer (which I haven't installed yet)

3: Failed

For obvious reasons

4:
Failed

Obvious reasons as well

5:
Failed

Obviously it doesn't

6:
Failed

The thing is it was shipped as OEM with my laptop, so I don't even have the CD that should come with it.

Would the IntelliPoint software work with my mouse?

Thank you for your time

Phil

Here's an important update.

Well it turns out my bluetooth adapter was not active, all I needed to do was to press "function" + F12.

Once I did that 7 found the adapter, installation started and went on smoothly. System panel show it is working properly and no conflict whatsoever are detected.

I still have the same problem though. Before I discovered how to activate the adapter I bought another BT mouse, same model that I purchase with my laptop which is the MS BT notebook mouse 5000.

So now here's the process:

1: Boot the laptop
2: Turn on the adaptor
3: Make the mouse discoverable and go to add a devices

= Nothing and that is for BOTH mice.

Now I have a hard time believing that both mice are busted and the BT adapter is fully functional.

What could be wrong then?

Thanks,

Phil

Have a look and see if the service is running, as that has been an issue for some people who couldn't get it working.

Thanks

I think it relies on two or 3, but if it's running, I suspect the others will be too.

Anything else I should try ?

I should mention that even after finding out about the adapter activation thingy I still lack a Bluetooth icon in the control panel. I do have one in the tray now though.

Thanks,

Phil

In the Device and Printers it is stated as "CSR Bluetooth radio"

Checking it's driver I found that the version I have dates back to 2006...but it's the one that came with 7 so I guess it is up to date.

Any thoughts?

Phil

Can you fill these in for us please - System Specs

And have a look here - www.csr.com, - see if there is anything related to your device.

Specs are updated but that CSR site has nothing of value in terms of useful informations nor does it offer any kind of concrete support.

It's 2 years newer than what you said you had, so thought it was worth a try.

Don't know what else to try.

This same problem on my Lenovo. First run a mouse - all works perfectly. After restart, notebook don't saw a m$ BT mouse. When I push button on mice to discover her in my laptop, laptop shows me text: enable paring - i try to paring and win7 gives me an error in paring.
In BT devices I see this mouse but I cant use it.

Thanx

@Romano

You're lucky, at least your computer see it, mine, even after all this time, won't even see it, or should I say see them. I have two BT mice and none of them get picked up by the BT receiver.

Thanks for the link Romano but it didn't help. Simply put, I don't have a BT software in the Control Panel...

So I am left with

"Device and Printers"
→"Add devices"

It keeps looking and looking....

Back to square one I guess. Thanks anyway.
