bluetooth problems

i just got this hp pavilion dv6-3120us its used got it at a retal center. i cant figure out how to turn on bluetooth i have the icon on my desk top and when i click it it ask if i want bluetooth tray applications to make changes to this computer i click yes and nothing happens if i right click the icon and click on open nothing happens...im at a lost and really want bluetooth to work please help me

have you tried to send something to your computer yet?
if you click the hidden items arrow bottom right of the taskbar do you see the bluetooth icon in the window that opens.
right clicking on it doesnt give the options to open!
at least not on this laptop, it give the options to add a device send and receive files,open settings etc.
chances are you already have bluetooth turned on.
see if your phone can find it, if your phone has bluetooth

no it doesnt show up on hidden icons.... and i've got the bluetooth on desktop now however i can click it and it doesnt open.....i dont know if somethng for the bluetooth is out of date or not bc i noticed under the programs alot things were added on this laptop 3 years ago including bluetooth stuff so i may just exchange this laptop for a newer one bc i didnt know it was that old

does this laptop require some sort of external piece for bluetooth to be turned on on this laptop?

Look under Accessories you should see bluetooth there and no you dont need to have an external piece
