Bluray for my Dell?

Hey guys I have windows 7 64 bit on an old Dell E1505 and I was wondering if I could upgrade the optical drive to bluray? Is there a bluray drive that will fit that form factor and would I need to upgrade/update the bios?

Since you have a laptop, and there are no standards for the way laptop hardware is made (besides RAM and hard drives) the only way you could upgrade the the built-in optical drive is if Dell makes the part. I'm going to try to find it for you. In the mean time, what version on the BIOS do you have? I see Dell is up to A17 for your computer.

I don't have that info at the moment, but I have never updated the bios since I purchased it. I don't have it on I'm at my desktop.

Unfortunately, Dell does not seem to have made a blu ray drive for your computer. Dell, like all laptop manufactures, make slight changes to the design of their drives so that you can't merely take one from a newer model and stick it in yours. The best I could find was a $200 USB blu ray player/DVD burner on Amazon.com. It's compact, and looks like you can power it just through the USB ports on your computer, so it's better than nothing if you really need it.
