Hi, I've been tearing my hair out over this problems for the last couple of days. I decided to upgrade my video card from a 650 to a zotac 960 2gb AMP. All was well and it ran most games. However, upon changing the resolution or refresh rate of my monitor, the color of the whole screen would turn really dark and the text would become very blurry.

I've installed the latest driver for the new card and my monitor is listed as Generic PnP. It's a LG M227WAP monitor but I was not able to find any drivers for it, and it had worked perfectly before with the 650.

And also, just last night, some of the text on my computer became very small. I've attached a small image to show you what I mean. Icon images and stuff are normal sized, but google chrome titles and the right click bar are very small. I'm using 100% display scale which is what I've always used. It's never been like this.

I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thanks for reading this.

Edit: Oh, and when I was using the old graphic card with no problems, I was using VGA. Now I'm using HDMI because the 960 has no VGA plug. Maybe this might have something to do with it.

Hi,
Yea hdmi does freak out a display I'm sure the new card has a dvi port just use it or get an adapter to use it
If your monitor has a dvi connection use a dvi cable

Not sure what is the recommended resolution before and now with hdmi is but i'm quite sure it's very different because of scaling ?

Well, when I go to choose resolutions, it still recommends 1920x1080. And my monitor doesn't have a DVI. Would it be better if I found a converter so I could still use the VGA plug, or should I find a converter and a plug for DVI?

Hi,
Yes the adapters are really cheap and easier to deal with than hdmi on a small monitor

hdmi is mostly for going to a large t.v.

You'd probably have to lower the resolution to 1600x900 with hdmi

Wow, I see. Well I figured out the problem with the small text. Somehow, the settings in "Windows Color and Appearance" were changed so I changed them all back to default. I'm perfect there. However, when I change to 1600x900 with the monitor, it becomes very warped, shows black areas, blurs the text, and the colors are all off. Could it be a problem with the graphics card?

Edit: I'll be buying a VGA and DVI-I cable to test with the computer and monitor. Thanks for your help by the way.

Good links. Do you think I should buy a DVI-I to VGA adapter for my card or a VGA to DVI-I for my monitor?

Edit: I think I'll buy both and let you know how that goes.

One for the card would be the cheapest route you can use the same cable,
There no advantage using a dvi cable to the monitor unless the monitor has a dvi connection

Save money for a newer monitor with dvi and display port connections :)
Which your card probably has 1-dvi port/ 1-hdmi port and 3-display ports
