Boot Configuration is Corrupt

Hi Guys,

Setup a test PC at work the other for Windows 7 32 Bit and Windows 7 64 Bit (dual boot). Set the dual boot up with EasyBCD. It was working fine until about 20 minutes ago.

I have tried the automatic startup repair but it does not fix the problem. I have also gone through Bootsect.exe and Bootrec.exe commands and they have succesfully written new MBR's and Bootsectors yet the PC still restarts. I have had to /force the previous commands to run.

I have also tried Chkdsk /r but for some reason it just runs through very quickly and finds no errors.

Any ideas as the PC's also have the virtual XP setup.

Thanks

Chris

If you can get to a command prompt, try running:

Drive:\boot\Bootsect.exe /NT60 All

I'm not 100% sure that this is the correct commmand for Windows 7 but it used to work for Vista with the same problem. If somebody could please confirm that this command is still good?

Tom

I will correct myself, after a little bit of reading it appears that the command contains NT61 and not NT60 - which I suppose makes sense :D

Says Bootcode was successfully updated on all boot sectors, so i reboot and it just does the same thing of restarting. And the command options only give me NT50 or NT60 and says NT60 is for Vista +

Hmm, how far through the Boot process do you get before it reboots itself?

It basically gets to the stage where it is about to load windows and then reboots. If i stick the drive in a external machine it only shows the "system reserverd" partition.

Starting to sound a little like a corrupted harddrive. I know you have run Check disk on it, but I have never found these tools very accurate at the best of times.
