Boot from CD in XP Mode?

I'm trying to restore a Norton Ghost 10.0 image to the XP mode. (Something I would have done in the old virtual PC program).

Does anyone know how you can boot from the image? I need to be able to point to a large (16 gig) .v2i file that is stored in my documents.

Hi BDThree, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Open Virtual Machines folder (C:\Users\Your_username\Virtual Machines), right click Windows XP Mode and choose settings. Choose DVD Drive from the right pane and browse to the image you want to mount.

OK, did some extensive testing. It seems that booting from ISO image is only possible when creating a new virtual machine.

So if you have an XP image, create a new virtual machine and set it to boot from ISO as told above.

If the ISO is a bootable ISO, then you should be able to boot from it in a VM in Windows Virtual PC.

I did not find a way to boot a virtual machine with existing OS from ISO, it looked like it was possible only if there was no OS in vhd. Now I know it's possible.

Now when you told about this BIOS trick it seems obvious. Like I said, a useful tip.
