Boot from DVD

When I load up my laptop, how do I boot from the DVD? Do I enter the BIOS or press down one of the F keys to get the laptop to ask me where to boot from?

Well, you could enter the BIOS to change the boot order, but if you do not need to, pressing a function key will also take you to a screen to choose where to boot from. On my computer, the key is F11; on the family computer, it is F12.

Did that but it still didn't work.

I take it I don't need to extract the files from the ISO file and then burn it at a smaller speed?

Or will it only work from a ISO file?

I'd recommend going into the BIOS and modifying the boot order to look at the DVD drive first. With the ".iso" DVD in there it should boot from it when it starts up.

That's the way I have my systems set up - they always look at the DVD drive first. It takes a couple of seconds longer, but I'm usually still trying to get the cat off the chair at that point.

Finally got it to work.

I used isoburner and made it do a really slow burn (at 2.5X I think) then I changed the settings in the bios, restarted my laptop and it worked.

Just too late now to do the install. Tomorrow shall be te day I finally get rid of the vicious cancer that is Vista.
