boot mgr is missing

Hey guys ive recently bought a gateway laptop with windows 7 pre-installed. I was trying to download something one day and i turned off my laptop. later on I turned it back on and it said boot mgr is missing press ctrl-alt-del to restart, i did and nothing happened, anyone have any suggestions. please help because i dont want to go out and buy another lap top

Instead of resorting to the system recovery option that should be seen in the user's manual and generally not getting a recovery disk included you may be able to use the recovery disks for 7 available at Download Windows 7 System Recovery Discs — The NeoSmart Files

Basically those are ISO images you download and burn to a cd-r or even write to usb flash with a program like UltraISO in order to use the startup repair tool. The option for creating one is also now seen in 7 when Windows is running. But first you have to get 7 back on it's feet.

The factory restore option will tend to reformat the C primary and finish off with a fresh install of 7 which means you lose any files you want to keep. Give the repair disk a try.
