Hey guys,

Unsure if this is possible or not but im interested to finding out if i can.

I have disabled windows error recovery option with bcdedit /set {current} bootstatuspolicy ignoreallfailures.

What im actually inquiring about now is if i could change the boot option to always load last known good configuration or even better if there is a way to do it after a bad or multi bad shutdowns *im not really expecting an option for the second method*.

Im still looking deeper into last known good configuration to ensure that this would work as well as im thinking for our bussiness senario.

Thanks for all your input.

I've never heard of a solution to your particular question, but there is a free product from Microsoft, called SteadyState, that will return a system to a pre-defined state after each reboot.

I'll give you an example of where it is used. My wife works in an IT department for a large nursing home complex. They have computer labs that are meant to let the residents get online, check e-mail, play games...etc. They found they were spending so much time reimaging the systems to fix errors caused by the users. So, they moved all of the users data to network drives...mapped by user account...and each night, the systems are rebooted. At that point, they revert back to a pre-defined state, right down to location of the icons on the desktop.
