Boot problem with usb HUB

Hello there,

I'm having trouble booting Seven since I installed a usb HUB (with my keyboard and a gamepad connected to it).

When I boot my computer, I have an uncommon black screen with a grey loading "bar" that says "Windows is loading files". Then computer quickly shuts down and restart.

On restart, Seven asks me if I want to boot normally or if I want to perform some checking utility because last start didn't went well. I select "start normally" and then Seven boots without problem

During first start, I see my usb peripherals (keyborad and gamepad) blinking rapidly before computer shuts down, so there's obviously something going wrong with them.

When I disconnect the HUB before booting, I have no problem.

Any idea where would that come from?

Thanks

Hi and welcome

Is the USB hub powered or not?

Hi,

Thanks for the quick replies :D

HUB is a Roccat Apuri. It has an AC adaptor so it can be self-powered or usb-powered. Unfortunately, it doesn't change anything, I have the same problem with both configuration.

I tried other usb port but I still have the same problem.

What I don't understand is why the first boot crashes, and the second doesn't.

Could it be IRQ related?
Or is it that Seven tries to boot from the HUB?

Have the same problem with XP (dual-boot).

If you had the same problem in both OS'es It has to be hardware. Is the usb 2.0 or 1.1? how many usb devices are attached?

While I can't help on your particular problem, I have had something similar.

Win 7 just would not boot at all. It got as far as completeing the POST screen and then froze.

I investigated and it turned out it was a conflict between my wireless keyboard and mouse (both Microsoft). I changed to a different wireless Microsoft mouse and have had no trouble since. Suppose it was something to do with the frequencies.

Not as fast as it should be......
Well, problem is quite different (or not?) under XP: I just had a BSOD while booting. End of story.

Under Seven, first boot seems to crash. Computer restart itself and then like I said it boots normally. And the hub works just fine after that.

I have 2 peripherals connected to the hub (keyboard and gamepad both with backlight). I will try with only one peripheral connected to see if it changes anything
