If you restart your computer and login to "Safe Mode" does the desktop show then?

You might stick in the DVD and boot to DVD, after language and keyboard, click lower left side --> REPAIR follow prompts and see if that will fix the problem.

no, this is supposed to be the first time use, so its setting up my computer. when i boot in safe mode, its says installation cannot finish in safe mode. so i boot in "last known good configuration" and all seems to be going well, it shows the status bar at the bottom of the screen saying something like "configuring your settings" then after a few seconds it crashes. when i boot windows normally, i get the problem i addressed above.

A possible work around is to install 7 with a different video card. Then from a working 7, you can download the latest driver for your ATI card and install the ATI card then?

i did both, upgrade off of vista upgrade failed, so i rolled back the 7 installation and created another partition and did a clean install. gave me this current problem, so i formatted the partition, tried it again, same thing.

Well you did good then 'cause one of them should have worked. I was hoping it was just a video driver issue but I think you have successfully eliminated that possibility. ;)

sounds like you have a BAD BURN.

no, the download is good, the burn could be bad, but i doubt it. burnt at minimum speed.

In a post awhile back by irodion, he suggested he had to use the DVD and select the "Repair" option when the "Install" was not successful. If you have nothing better to try, and have the time, I would really like to know it this would help?

Robert :D

the repair option doesnt work, ive tried em all.
what i did do, i took the hard drive out of my problem pc and slaved it to another hd in another computer, installed it to there, then took the hard drive back to the problem pc and hooked it up, it got me goin, i had to install new drivers for completely different hardware, but im rollin. i also deduced that it was a gpu problem, hardware conflict...
