Hai folks.

I've done everything, i was talking with a lot of people and they gives me a lot of advices but nothing helps.

My problem is: I've got HP Presario CQ56 100-SM and Windows 7 32bit ultimate on it, but i want to change it to Windows XP because my laptop has low performances with Win7. However when i trys to boot my Win XP SP3 there is an problem.

Well everything goes well untill the blue screen appear.(My laptop is pretty new so there is no possible ways that its damaged or something like that)
I think this is motherboard: XM647EA
And some Toshiba Hard Disc, but i think that they put some security that doesnt allow me to instal XP.

So i saw somewhere on some forums an solution and i tryed to change IDE to ahci but without success.

Because when i open BIOS setup i cant find option for change that.
On this screenshots you will see which options it offers me.

I hope that someone will help me.
Cya

I can't seem to find a reference to that model number. But there should be a page where your hard drives are listed. The options of AHCI or RAID or IDE, or some variance should be there. Maybe look under the Boot Order on the System Configuration page.

If you can't find the setting, probably the AHCI drivers will have to be slipstreamed into the install to keep from getting the blue screen.

Hi sithrevenge
There might be an hidden partition the computer boots onto, this mayby prevents you from
installing.

OS
Windows 7 32 & 64 bit , XP
I remember that when i was installing Windows 7 there was one option and it said that it will create some security partition(in case of lost data and for windows working better, i am not sure)

So is there any solution?
I was trying to boot Windows XP from my usb but the same problem came.

If there are no problems running Win7 then why not keep it instead of trying to install a dead OS? You can even virtualize XP within Win7 if you must have it.

If not then you'll need to get the HD's to show up when you boot the XP CD, and it may require slipstreaming the SATA drivers correctly.

The OP says he has low performance in W7. If highly doubt performance will get better if he virtualizes.

First custom build, saving up for a GTX770!
I realize that. But when an OP mentions performance problems with Win7, we should know exactly what they are. I regularly get WIn7 to run fast on 10 year old hardware.

If you'll explain the performance problems then we may be able to help you resolve them.

That's what we do - help get the best performance from Win7, not some old XPired OS which won't even install on most modern hardware.

If you want to use XP only, and not windows 7 (not a wise decision IMO), you may set the HDD Controller to IDE, which is set to be AHCI atm; and try reinstall XP.

That is why it is not a wise decision .
