Solved Boot problem

Hello,
a fresh installation of a unix version on a separate HD, has cancelled the boot options between 2 different os and boot only to the unix. The first HD has win' 7 on it. Is there a way to save it from win'? Thanks,

This is the reason you should always unplug the other HD when installing an OS to another HD.

Unplug the new HD install, Mark Partition Active Win7 or it's 100mb System reserved (preferred if you have it) partition, then run Startup Repair - Run up to 3 Separate Times until Win7 boots and once again holds the System flag.

Then you can plug back in the new install to see if it will boot via the BIOS one-time Boot Menu key. If not unplug the Win7 HD and install the new OS again to its own HD booted independently via the BIOS and not Win7.

You said "unix". Did you mean that, or mean "Linux"? Linux distros, by default, install GRUB to the "first" hard drive -- unless you catch them before they do that and manually change the drive location.

When you have multiple physical drives, the safest solution is to unplug ALL but the drive you want to work with, when installing or reinstalling Linux distros.

The version is BT 5r3. I saved the boot menu according to: Use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows and although it suggests both of the os, the backtrack doesn't work. There's a message saying there's an ubuntu issue... anyway, formatting the HD and reinstalling (while win' 7 HD is unplugged) didn't help (windows was gone) and I had to bring back the menu again. I know that the GRUB works better only It doesn't appears when restarting the computer, after installing BT. Thanks,
