I'm trying to save data from my old hard drive but when I go to boot up, the drives conflict and windows 7 doesnt load eventhough I've disabled the slave drive in bios boot menu, any help?

Looking at specs, you have one Sata HD & one IDE HD. IDE Hd will boot first.
Reset your BIOS so IDE HD's are not bootable.

I went into BIOS and disabled everything on the boot drive besides the SATA HD, (i.e. the ATA HD and the external HD), also, the ATA HD is controlled through a SATA controller, (no IDE ports on motherboard)

So, is it working? My guess is that you're likely NOT going to be able to boot from the SATA drive because it's using an add-on controller card. I had a similar problem with an older PC that had limited SATA ports and when I added a controller card, I could not boot from any drive connected to the controller card.

But, these things tend to be card-specific. If you have info on the card, check it to see if there's a way to load the card driver so that it can be bootable.

I've finally got it to where I can boot windows 7 but now when I go into disk management, it says I have to initialize the disk first, but when I click initialize, it's unable to perform the task

to get it to boot windows 7, I unplugged the ATA drive, booted to windows, disabled the RAID controller, shut down, plugged the drive back in, rebooted windows, then enabled the RAID card. Now I'm in, I just can't access the data on the drive without being able to initialize it

I guess the first question should be whether the IDE drive is jumpered to master? If it is, you could always use an IDE -->USB adapter or enclosure.

Doesn't the card need to have a bios to boot?
