I tried to bring my computer out of hibernation and was confronted with:

Windows failed to start. A Recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your langugae settings, and then click next
3. Click "repair your computer."

Recently I shrank one of the partition on the data drive in order to enlarge the other partition on the data drive. The enlarged data drive contains the folders of some installed games but the system disk is separate and was not altered in this way. I'm pretty sure that I hibernated and recovered from hibernation at least once since that change was made.

Could it be that the OCZ drive has developed a fault? Or would it then be unable to even display this message?

When I attempt to repair the installation using the Windows 7 disc, the operating system isn't listed. I don't think that there are any drivers for me to load - I think it's supposed to be automatic (the driver must be a part of Windows own included set).

i had exactly the same issue and message after removing everything to reseat my cpu cooler , i ended up haveing to downclock my ram 100mhz to get the system to boot , i have NO idea why it happened.

Im not saying your issue is ram related but i will say its most likely hardware not software , and im not thinking its your hard drive , try reseating all your hardware maybe if problem persists remove i stick of ram leaving only one stick , remove anything not needed for boot , external hard drivers , keyboard mouse etc tryu resetting bios to defaults

No, it's definitely unrelated to that problem. That problem was due to a defective HDD which was removed (and RMAed) and replaced with a different disk.

So I reseated my RAM and daughter cards and unplugged my data HDDs and removed a stick of RAM and attempted to boot but got a 'Disk error. Press any key to restart' message. I plugged all the HDDs back in and got the same thing. I switched the SATA cable *back* to the old one and went into the BIOS to check the disk priority and noticed that some allusion to a USB drive was in first place. It may have been like that for a long time or may have just occurred. In any case, I put the SSD in first place and saved to CMOS and the computer started up just fine. I don't really know what happened. Windows reported not shutting down properly but I don't know why that would have been. The problem is resolved but I'm not any wiser. :/

Edit: When putting the case side panel back, I unplugged the old SATA cable (which is the reason I replaced it with one which has clips to prevent accidental unplugging) so I suffered the 'Disk error' again. After switching back to the new cable, I still got the error, so I ventured into the BIOS and saw that disk priority had changed again. I raised the SSD to the top and now it works again. Nonetheless, the cause of the original error is still a mystery.

Ive seen this very problem on here in the last few weeks , we offered differant solutions and he found out his boot priority had changed to usb first , im sure he had problems waking from sleep mode , he changed priority back and all was well.

It seems that windows for some reason is screwing with the biso settings whenj sleep/hibernate is used.

another odd thing usually if you change boot priority the bios will search the chosen media in order till it finds bootable media then boot from it , but it seems if you set USB as first boot device in some cases it wont boot at all , instead of looking for bootable media on a usb device then moving on to the next selection it hangs and throws up various erros , im wondering if its trying to boot from a mouse or keyboard (recognising what it may think is bootable media in the firmware , this sounds far out i know )

anyhoo its always better to solve an issue yourself

What is the type of SSD? Head over to the OCZ forums. Some of their SSDs do have hibernation / sleep issues (hopefully it will get fixed by a firmware update soon). I have currently set my system to never hibernate.
