Hey,

I don't if i can post here or that i should create my own thread but i got the exact same problem. My old hdd broke (head crash most likely) so i bought a new one and when i use the recovery disks, which i made the day ireceived the laptop, i get the same warning/message/error.

When i use the recovery disks and everything gets installed it does say "preparing for first use". I can set all the settings etc. When all that i done i can "use" the computer, i can go on the internet etc.

But when i log off and later on again it just gives me the same error:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: etc"

It looks that when i shut the laptop off, it completly forgets that windows was installed.

Can anyone help me fix this? I already booted the pc 4 times. I run diagnostics check:everything passes.

When i use the problem solve option in the device manager it says the following: hardware changes might not have been detected.

I apologize if my english isnt perfect.

I turned off my wake up for special packets settings on my NIC in an effort to get my computer to stop auto-waking from hibernation when this problem started. Maybe your driver settings have something to do with why your computer can no longer boot without the recovery disk?

I haven't solved my problem yet, but will update when I do.
