boot trouble shooting

i have a comaq presario cq61 with a boot issue...the compaq sceeen pops up and then the black blank sceen with a blinking underscore,i was led to believe this is a problem with the boot file,mgr or bcd,help?

Could be many things. can you fill in your system specs (lower left corner) so we know what hardware you have.

Does it do this in safe mode (F8)?

Do you have a backup to restore from?

Do you have a win 7 dvd (not restore dvd)?

i cannot access anything unless it is the bios menu,not even safe mode...that was my first thought to do -=/
i loaded win 7 recovery files to a usb so i can access the start up repair command prompt

but to answer your questions i do not have a restore point nor recovery disk
