Hi,
One quick question i hope...

Now i have installed windows 7 all ok...thanks all. On start up i get the option of starting in windows 7 or vista. Is there any way i can make this go straight to windows seven as i cannot format the old drive that had vista on it as windows wont let me, and i have just read the it has to be left on anyway.Could this be done in the bios somehow.

Bob

Hi Bob,

Can you still boot into Vista or does it just appear in the boot menu? Do you want to get rid of Vista and have Windows 7 as your sole OS?

If you'd like to remove Vista drive and only have Win7, you need to mark Win7 active in Disk Management, shutdown and unplug the Vista drive, then boot into Win7 DVD Repair console to run Startup Repair 3 separate times as it will attempt to repair and then rewrite the MBR to Win7.

If you'd like to confirm these standard recovery steps apply to your configuration, please post back a screenshot of your full Disk Management drive map, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu, attaching file using paper clip in replay box.

We have helped remove 100+ dual boots here since Win7 release with a nearly perfect success rate.

Hi Greg,
Thanks for getting back.I have the setting set for windows 7 as default, and have turned the boot timing down so it only counts 2 secs.I installed the exe file version of 7 and have spoken to a collegue at work and he says if i had installed the iso version on a custom install it wipes the original vista copy off the drive instead of overlaying over the original vista.

hope this makes sense,

bob
