Bootable Backup of Windows XP

If there's anyone who can tell me how I should back up my installed Win XP on a DVD being bootable. So that whenever I install it or format harddrive with it I get all my softwares already installed in the pc.

Hi there
If you need a "generic" bootable Windows XP system (one that works like a Linux "Live CD") that you can boot and run on any system with appropriate hardware then try creating a "Bartpe" type system -- it will also run from a USB device as well.

If you actually want to use your running system then make a bootable Acronis / Ghost recovery system with an image of your Windows OS on the same DVD - remember however that your DVD can only hold around 4.7GB so you better have a small XP system (or be prepared to use more than one DVD -- Acronis will prompt for extra media if it needs it).


Remember also for XP you'll need probably to add SATA drivers (via SLIP STREAMING) otherwise you'll get "No Hard disks found" if you try and create a fresh XP system from the XP install disk.

actually m not getting what you r telling exactly.
i want to deploy my os in a dvd in such a way that the os being bootable in the dvd must contain all those softwares being installed already which i installed on my pc's program files directory.
so whenever i will format my machine i must get back my pc in such a state how it is now.
hope now u get the point and will try to helpme solve this.

You can use Norton Ghost to do this.

Personally, I would use a program like Acronis or Macrium Reflect to image your system drive and save it to an external drive...

thanks for the help,
but i actually wanna backup my xp/vista in such a way that whenever i
will install it from dvd i will get all those options of installing which i get on a simple xp professional disk. like setting username n password, setting the date time and timezone etc, getting an option to create partition and format any drive.
hope this time u understood what i mean to say and how i want to deploy my os.
actually i want to deploy my os as windows xp black edition.
any help will be appriciated by heart.
