Hoggorm,

You have a pre-SP1 DVD and you Win 7 on the disk has SP1. Crazy but true.

That might very well be true yes... I'll try it and see, however, it is ver close to midnight in Norway now, and I think I'll just start a new install of Windows in the morning. That might be the easiest solution, however time consuming... At least it should work? :)

Could you show me a link about that Karl?

The problem he is having is this:

This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair.

Are you saying that is because his system recovery options are SP0, yet his installation is SP1?

@Hoggorm,

Have you downloaded that yet?

I am assuming you don't still have the Vista HD attached?

Why reinstall??? Only BOOTMGR is missing.... as far as we know.
Put it in the root folder of your boot partition for example C:
For example C:\bootmgr
Reboot from win7 dvd using shift+f10
Find the drive letter of DVD drive

Code:
DIR d:\
DIR e:\
etc. do you see bootmgr in list? Assume it's E.

Code:
copy e:\bootmgr c:\

Command succeeded succesfully?

Now reboot normally and post results
bootmgr on dvd and on boot partition are the same (just checked it)

Kaktussoft,

You are the winner! :D Your last post was the solution. i copied the bootmgr from DVD drive H:/ to C:/ then restarted and Windows started :)

Thanks!!!

But who deleted it? did you first boot from "system reserved" and now from C, so you made another partition active?
bootmgr doesn't get deleted on its own!

I am afraid reinstall is often suggested when it is not necesaary.

I always look for other solutions first.

Glad to see Kaktussoft does the same.

BTW - the download I suggested is a special repair cd - it is not for reinstalling.

bootmgr doesn't get deleted on its own!

The only thing I can imagine is what I wrote in the first post. On my system I added a HDD with Windows Vista from a laptop computer. I did not want that HDD be wasted as only the motherboard on the laptop was dead.
So I added it to my stationary Pc instead, booted it up (that went fine).
Now I formated the new disk with Vista. The next time I tried to boot the PC I got the BOOTMGR error...

I have no other idea why it happened, sorry...
