Solved BOOTMGR is Missing - No DVD/CD

So I have been trying, with no luck, to add primary partition my hdd(don't ask why, I tried everything, and it said I only had 1 mb of free space when I have/had over 200 gb). Anyway, I restarted, and now I am getting the BOOTMGR is missing error.

It is a Sony Vaio Windows Premium. It did not come with a MSFT/recovery/Sony, or any type of CD/DVD. I consistently press F8 as I read to enter recovery mode without a disk and I still get the same screen.

What do I do?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a mate with Windows 7 & a CD/DVD RE drive?
You then can make the Startup disk

Make sure the Win7 HD is detected and set first HD to boot in BIOS setup.

Tap the F8 key to access System Recovery Options, accept any offered repair. If it fails to start boot back in to run Startup Repair repeatedly with reboots.

If you lack a disk it is provided in Step 5 of Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start which includes everything possible to get Win7 started.

I joined just so I could thank you and advise people that this solution worked for me.

I installed a new hard drive and accidentally marked it as active. On boot, BOOTMNGR missing would pop up. I ran startup repair a couple times, which got me to my desktop. I went in and marked the new hard drive as inactive and had to run startup repair a couple more times, and now my pc boots fine. This is a HUGE relief.

Glad to hear it fightmaster.

Obviously the 100mb System Reserved (preferred if you have it) or C were already Partition Marked Active on the older hard drive, so the issue must have been both marking the new HD Active and having it incorrectly set first to boot in BIOS. Otherwise the BIOS would have booted the old HD first since it remained marked Active as we know because you didn't have to mark it Active later.

we'll be glad to look it over for any potential problems or other suggestions.

I tried this step but it didn't work. I don't have a CD ROM so what I did is copied the Windows 7 setup to my hard drive and connected it to the computer so I can format it. I pressed F8 repeatedly and was given choices but I can't see where I can access my hard drive to start the Windows 7 set up. I tried starting windows normally but it keeps on crashing and restarting without opening at all. Thanks, hope you can help me.

How did you copy to desktop without DVD? Create an ISO of it and make bootable USB with rufus. It won't work like you did.

No because i dont have a disk with windows 7 and i cant use other pcs because they are laptops, and i only have a 2gb usb

Doesn't matter if laptop or desktop, having the same bit (32 or 64) is enough.

You will need to make a CD first and create an ISO from it to make the USB.

Find a Win7 of the same bit version to make a Repair CD, or locate a safe copy of the ISO for Win7 installation media which includes Repair functions. Finding safe media is discussed in step 1 of Clean Reinstall Windows 7
