BOOTMGR is missing

I just finished building my computer and put in my windows 7 installation disk however when I got to the installion screen it could detect the hard disk but it wasn't working. It said make sure the connections are correct and that it isn't read-only. I then moved it over to my old computer as a secondary hard drive where i formatted it. It was then useable on that computer. I moved it back to my new computer and got to where the problem was last time, except this time there didn't seem to be one. It simply said to restart the computer so it booted the newly installed windows straight off the hard drive rather than the cd and then reinsert the cd to finish installation. However, when I turn my computer on, it simply say BOOTMSG is missing, press ctrl + alt + del to restart on a black screen and if i boot from the disk it just goes and starts to install windows again before telling me to restart my computer and then reinserting the cd. I have tried doing startup repair as has been suggested to other people with this problem however it didn't work. Any suggestions?

Hello sammmmmy195, welcome to Seven Forums!

After the initial inspection, it takes at least 3 separate startup repairs to write boot files to Windows 7 and make sure the Windows 7 partition is "Active" before the repairs.

Have a look at this tutorial at the link below.

It points the repair utility to where the boot files are to be created.

done that and am repairing my computer now (hopefully). One thing someone suggested was to do this:
bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup

ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old

bootrec /rebuildbcd

in cmd. However when I tried the first line, it said that the drive could not be found. It's definitely recognising the drive and it's definitely connected but could this indicate a potential hard drive problem?

I ran startup repair again and got this
Partition table is corrupt on disk
\deivce\harddisk0
repair action: partition table repair
result: failed. Error code = 0x490
or it might have said 496, i'm not sure.
what does this mean?

Hello again.

Is the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) being detected in the BIOS of the new machine?

Let's try this as you haven't got anything installed yet to lose; have a look at the info below and be sure to create a partition as in the tutorial.

If you have any peripherals connected, including any other Hard Disk Drives (HDD) disconnect them.

   Information

After you have made backups of everything you care to save and you want to do a real wipe "clean all" to the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) have a look at this tutorial at the link below, it over-writes everything, all the old Windows code including all the old Windows drivers, giving you the best possible space to install Windows 7 to; it goes hand-in-hand with a clean install.
