Hi, so here's the case. I know there has been a lot of threads about this but I think I know why this happened but I don't know how to fix it.

So okay, here's what happened:

Recently, I upgraded my OS from Windows XP to Windows 7 Ultimate. However my Windows XP is in Local Disk C: while my Windows 7 is in Local Disk D:. Ever since, I had a dual boot menu at startup. Since I don't plan on ever using my Windows XP, I tried formatting Local Disk C: but it won't let me. So, since i need memory, I decided to delete the files individually including its BOOT folder. It was working until it restarted and told me that BOOTMGR is missing. any hints?

PS: i don't have my windows 7 installer anymore since the CD broke. though I have copy in a USB.

You couldn't delete it because bootmgr and bootmenu were on winxp partition!
do this : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/71432-partition-mark-active.html METHOD 2
so mark the WIN7 partition as active

Now do http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html

   Tip
Sometimes it may take running a startup repair (3) separate times with restarting the computer after each time before it fully fixes the startup issue.

Win7 boots now? You can delete the winxp partition using disk management now

Follow the tutorial which I listed first, and then we will show you how to make the Windows 7 partition as active.

Alternatively, since you only want the Windows 7 operating system, then you could also do a complete reinstall of the operating system and reformat the hard-drive(s).

The first steps within the tutorial showed how to burn the .ISO file (if the USB drive was not bootable) to a DVD, so they could access the startup menu to perform a Startup Repair.
