Solved BOOTMGR MISSING error after POST

OK.... I had this error and did a quick search around to find that I could use my install DVD to remedy the problem. I am using the recovery tool and select start-up problems. In the following window it shows that I have 3 installs of Win7!

I screwed up the first two installs by not using the raid drivers for my mobo and when the install would finish it would load the first instance of windows but if I tried to restart the boot would fail completely. So I tried a vista x32 raid driver the second time, failed again... then I found the right driver and working. Then I got this error randomly after I restarted.

My raid 0 is 2x 320gb drives; set at 128k. I also have 2 additional hdds attached; 1 sata2 and 1 IDE.

I have only selected in the windows installer to install Windows 7 on the raid drive. Every time I have used the Format button in the installer ... is that not really a clean format?

I would love to just have my system running Win7 clean and clear.

Reconsider using RAID0. It is hardly redundant since if you lose one HD then you lose your OS and data. Better to go modern with built-in Win7 backup imaging to a secondary storage drive. The performance gains are not reported to be significant although you may want to see for yourself.

If you want to try to correct what you've got, please download and burn to CD free Partition Wizard bootable CD, boot it and post back a camera snap of its full drive map with listings. Partition Wizard

OK, here is what I did: I disconnected the other hdds and currently running the format you linked me too. I wanted to disconnect the other drives to be sure nothing happens to my backup data.

Smart thinking. Let us know how it goes. Are you saving the RAID0?

Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

Another modern method is to place your User fiiles in separate partition on another HD, then link to User folders using this method: User Folders - Change Default Location

This way your OS/Programs partition is leaner for imaging, and if it becomes irreparable you can reimage it using booted DVD and stored backup image in 15 minutes with your files all current and ready in their own separate partition vault.

hey there, yes I saved the raid 0. I like the performance of it. and i really like your suggestion of saving my user files on my storage drive. That is awesome.

update: I am back up and booting like a champ. thanks for your direction greg!
