Bootmgr Missing HELP please.

Need help this is wat i did.

i make the partition as active by going to computer managment-> disk management got this popup message
-> Only make a partition as active if it contains a functioning operating system. If the partition lacks an operating system. marking it active might cause your computer to stop working. Do you want to continue?
-> i click conitnue. and the computer was working fine
-> but when i re-start it it give me BOOTMGR IS MISSING message
-> i insert the OS dvd and Repair your computer and didnot show any operating system
-> i tried by command prompt -> bootrec /fixboot -> it says completed successfully but
when computer re-started got the same error BOOTMGR IS MISSING

I have some family pictures that are the only ones i have please help if u can i would really appreciated.

What partition did you mark Active? Did you heed the clear warning not to mark Active any but your Win7 partition or it's 100mb boot partition?

If not, boot into System Recovery Options to open a Command Line to mark Active the Win7 partition or it's 100mb System Reserved partition (preferred if you have it) using this method: Partition - Mark as Active (Method Two)

Then boot back into Options to run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times until Win7 starts on its own.

You can also burn to CD free Partition Wizard bootable CD which will provide a graphical map of your partitions to mark the correct one Active. Once you do this, click on the Disk # to highlight it, from Disk tab select Rebuild MBR, Apply steps, Reboot. This may preclude the need to run Startup Repairs.

If marking the SysReserved partition fails after 3 Repairs, move the Active flag to Win7 partition itself and run the Repairs again, report back.

I wanted to partition the hard drive to test out the windows 8 beta. And certainly did not no what i was doing.=)

You would follow these same steps to do that: Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and Vista

Just move the Active flag back to where it was and run 3 Startup Repairs from DVD or System Repair Disk. More detailed instructions are in the links I posted earlier which you should read in full to avoid further guessing.
