Tried to install windows 7 and during the installation it failed and when it restarted my laptop it came up bootmgr miss press ctrl + alt + del to restart.

Now I formatted my hard drive before I installed it and I kept the disc in after restarting and everytime I turn on my laptop it comes up bootmgr missing press ctrl alt del to restart.

It wont even read the disc now to install and there is nothing on the hard drive so it just keeps going to the same screen.

Anyone know what to do?

Hi. Yes.

Put Windows 7 DVD in the drive.

Tap f8 when you boot the pc until you get a choice. Choose the DVD/CD drive. Install Windows.

If that doesn't work for you, go into bios and set the DVD/CD drive to be first boot.

It was already set up for the DVD/CD to boot first. Also when you continue to hit f8 it does not do nothing either, only u hit it to much it makes a bleep noise. Then after about 30 seconds of black screen it comes up BOOTMRG is missing, prees ctrl + alt + delete to restart.

If you leave it on the screen for a bit you hear the disc spinning and stuff but nothing is happening. I was trying to install it on a dell inspiron 1525 laptop.

It is not seeing the Win7 DVD and trying to boot into missing Vista.

Might be something to do with the pre-formatting, which should have been done after booting in by the Win7 installer Custom>Advanced drive tools.

Look for incorrect BIOS settings. Enter Setup at boot to check exact Boot order as suggested, with DVD drive first, HD second.

Try to boot from another installer like Vista.

Next, consider setting all BIOS settings back to default then redo the DVD first, HD second.

Make sure the disk is clean. Try making a copy and boot from that, as sometimes the laser just won't read.

You 'll need a separate key for your Dad's laptop, but it should be able to install there.

Can you use the recov partition or disks to restore your Dad's laptop to original condition?

Then you can try to run the installer from the installed OS.
