Greetings all……

I am having problems transferring large files between drives. I just put together a new image editing box and have been migrating from WinXP to Win 7 pro 64bit. Except for the few annoying things Win 7 offers like UAC and not letting my open or have access to my own files I like it. I am having a problem though. For years while using XP I would backup to multiple drives just by highlighting large groups of data and dragging it a different/backup drive whether it be internal or external and never had issues. With my new system this is not the case. If I transfer a group of files (about 700gigs worth) mostly images to a freshly formatted 2TB WD MyBook located on a USB 3.0 port and at some point it will BOSD. The time it takes to do this is pretty random, but it never completes the task. The system is fresh with all drivers up to date and the latest Bios. I have been reading for three days now on different reasons this could happen and have come up empty. I would very much appreciate any help that would at least point me in the right direction.

Here is the latest .dmp file. I have several but they are pretty much the same. As much as I try to understand it, it's over my head.

Thank you Panais for your quick reply and your suggestions, your time is very much appreciated! Right after I made the above post I went searching again for any updated drivers and such. Nothing for drivers but I did find a newer bois update. Went ahead and flashed it and then made a 800gig or so transfer and to my surprise no crash. First time since I built the box, so I am crossing my fingers.

Now I am courious though, about your suggestion on switching form AVG to MSE. I did a little reading while waiting for the large file transfer to complete and it appears that MSE is a nice option for a anti virus program. But I have to ask why you wanted me to switch? Was there something in the dmp file I uploaded that indicated that there was a problem with AVG? Any help in decifering that dmp file further would be helpful.

Thanks again Panais......... :)

Thanks again kind sir. I am going to take your suggestion and make the switch to MSE. If you get a free chance could you cut & paste from the dmp file where you discovered this info on AVG. Not that I doubt you, just thinking I might learn a little something if I could see how you discovered this.

Thanks again.

Scott
