Both my removable media drives can no longer recognise blank CD/DVD

I have recently been bereft of the ability to write to standard CD/DVD drive or BluRay drive with any type of blank disc. I always use windows drag-and-drop. All automatic updates are installed.
Every system tool test or troubleshooter says that the two devices are working properly.They can play pre-recorded material but I simply cannot get them to recognise blank media. Any suggestions/recommendations?

Sounds like your burn software might be at fault, download and install the very good (and free) BurnAware program from here and try that:

hi,try this,click on `my computer`icon on desktop.right click cd/dvd icon.select properties.click on hardwear then click on cd/dvd then click properties.now click on dvd region.... MAKE SURE IT IS SET FOR U.K

That won't help as he has already told us he has no problems playing media. It is burning the media failure. If it was just one drive it could be the hardware but if it is more than one drive the software is the issue, another good free burner software is Imageburn. The Official ImgBurn Website

Since it it four months since the OP raised this thread I would guess he has either solved the problem or given up. Without feedback we may nver know!!!!
