I have a laptop as follows:

i7 4700
Intel 4600 integrated graphics + Nvidia GT 750M
8GB RAM
750GB Sata HD

Running MS Security Essentials, Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1.

All has been fine for months, just today I am getting these BSODs out of nowhere for both SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXEMPTION and MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (I am quickly checking the screen as it self-reboots off the BSOD after ~5-7 seconds).

I have done as instructed and attached my SF Diagnostic Tool file. I would greatly appreciate any help, really need the laptop for presentations on Monday. Thank you!!

Hello and welcome candide I am not good with dump fles but might suggest these for elimination purposes

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

The sfc can be run in repair mode http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/139810-sfc-scannow-run-command-prompt-boot.html but run the first two to start with

As memory is mentioned it might be that it needs testing but that will take some time -

MEMTEST
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.htmlthis one you will need to make a bootable diskset the BIOS to optical (or USB if preferred) boot the machine and let it runfor at LEAST 8 passes unless the errors come up straight away. Takes fair timeto complete and some leave it running overnight

Thanks ICit2lol, I ran memtest through the night. Got this: http://i.imgur.com/q7Q9fHQ.jpg

Just now I have run both the sfc and the check disk.

SFC result: http://i.imgur.com/XTYsI99.png.

I have attached the CBS.log file for the SFC as well as the check disk log (I had it scheduled to run on reboot), and both images in case the URLs don't work.

After all of this I am using the laptop currently and watching a Twitch stream, is working okay for now. I am going to run memtest again overnight and report back, I've also emailed the company where I purchased it in case I need to send it back if one of the RAM sticks is bad.

Is the best course of action to just run memtest with one RAM stick in at a time so I know which one has the errors? Thanks for the help.

Candide the memory is bad so what you will have to do is remove the sticks of RAM then reinsert each stick on it's own and memtest again to find the bad stick. If the memtest comes up good on each stick it could possibly be one of the slots having a problem.

If both sticks are bad you will need to replace them with new ones and as a general rule it is best done by buying a matched pair (two sticks in the same pack) that means that they are more likely to be closely matched in the specs.

If only one stick is bad then you need to buy just one stick but try to get as close to the same as the good stick - brand and number if possible.

Post back for us to advise if you are unsure of what to do.

Alright, I ran the test on each stick, then again with both.

No errors show each test on each stick, so that seems fine: pic 1 and pic 2.

Then I run the test with both sticks and the errors show up quickly:

So I reboot and run the test again with both sticks still, and the errors show up again. 1 (circled red to show pass 0) happens pretty quickly. Then I reboot again and they show up much later: 2 circled red to show pass 8. I was beside the laptop working for a few hours, errors didn't show up until pass ~6 or 7. (Also note that the characters are all garbled when the errors show up.)

I've contacted the company and it looks like I'll be sending in the laptop for repair, there doesn't seem to be much else to do unfortunately, unless I've misdiagnosed which is of course possible.

Typically a laptop has tow slots one at the bottom lets call it slot 1 and one over the top of it lets call this it slot 2.
So I have this correct you put stick 1 in slot 1 and it came up no errors, and then put stick 1 in slot 2 and it came up no errors and then you repeated this with stick 2? This would mean you have run four separate tests. Yet put both back in and the errors start again?

Now if you only tested the sticks in slot 1 (or 2) and got not errors points to something wrong with one of the slots, and the fact that the errors start with both sticks in is why I am assuming one of the slots perhaps is bad.
Now in the main pic of how the sticks sit in a laptop it could be slightly different configuration to what you see in your machine as some have them in line and not over and above but the principle of testing is the same.

If you are confident enough you could try this

SLOTCLEANING

Now as for the slots to clean them use astrip of old credit card about 1/2 inch wide nip the corners off one end - preferably round them off hold apiece of thin lint free cloth over the end dab on some form of alcohol - isopropyl alcohol (what we swab the skin with before an injection) is good and GENTLY swipe along the slots. See pic of cleaner stick.
NB The slight bend in the card for laptops.

This can also be done for the GPU slot/s.

Sorry for the late reply! I have indeed run through all configurations testing memtest and alas isolated one bad RAM stick, and the bottom slot is bad. It got to the point now where having a stick in the bottom slot wouldn't allow the laptop to properly boot up.

Your cleaning solution is really good, I hadn't even thought of that, and I will save that for future use undoubtedly. Since the laptop is only a few months old I have arranged for an RMA with the company and am sending it back on Monday for repair.

Greatly appreciate your help, can't thank you enough for taking your time and energy, have come away even just understanding how to better diagnose issues like this. Thank you again and will post back here if any further challenges.

Well doen Candide I am glad you have some warranty on it otherwise it would have meant buying one 8GB stick - but that that would have not been a big deal but hey you paid good money for it so why nt get it fixed at their expense.

Now before you send back back u any data you need if you can using this

Not a problem Candide as I said next is to set it to back up every week like I do - that way you get to being "updated" if you need to install form the image.
