Bought Acer netbook IE 9? doesn't show favorites

I just bought a new Acer netbook. I opened up Internet Explorer with Hotmail. But I don't see the Menu bar that lists "File", Edit", "Favorites", Tools, Help. I thought Hotmail stored my "Favorites" for me? Am I wrong? I want to go down to Florida and play with my new netbook but I want to click on my "Favorites if I need them.

Can someone help?

I hate IE9, but in previous versions if you tapped the ALT key it showed the menu bar. Does that still work in IE9?

Also, IIRC, ALT-A brought up the favorites menu.
