breathing "new life" into aoa 150

I have an aoa 150 netbook ZG5, it's currently running Windows 8.1. I download a registry tweak file to make it run faster and adjusted the vram to 2GB. Still a bit slow, I'm aware of the atom processor in it. Stock HDD at 80GB and ram 1GB. Thinking of maybe putting an SSD, any other suggestions?

The SSD will certainly help performance. And you really do not have many other options.

I was able to max out my AOA150 with 1.5GB RAM and put in an ssd. Performance improved but still no speed demon. I'm not aware of any registry tweak to make a netbook run faster.

The AOA150 can handle a max of 1.5GB of RAM. If I recall correctly, it has 512MB of RAM soldered to the mobo and a 512MB stick in a slot. You can swap out the RAM stick in the slot for a 1GB stick to bring the RAM up to 1.5GB.

My AOA150 came with XP originally. After I maxed out the RAM and swapped it's 160GB hdd for a 64GB ssd, I installed Win 7 Pro on it and ran it that way for quite a few years. I eventually upgraded it to Win 8.1 Pro (required a registry tweak to change the screen resolution in order to run "Modern" apps). Most recently, I upgraded the little netbook to Win 10 Pro. The little netbook is about 7 years old now and still works great.
