Brief Wireless Internet Disconnections

Hello world.
It's been some time since I first had this problem.
The problem is that when I'm downloading large files or when I play an online game,
I get brief disconnections.

What do I mean by that?
For example, when I play a game, the ping gets really random every few seconds.
Also, when I'm downloading a large file, the download speed drops from 2,7mbps to 1~ and gets back to normal within a few seconds.

Sometimes it gets fixed when I power cycle, but I need to know if there is any way
to permanently fix this, because reseting the router is a real pain while playing
an online game, etc.

I have a 24Mbit connection and the router I use is a BaudTec TW243R4.
The router is placed in the next room, 7-8m away from where I place the laptop.
I always get perfect signal and the laptop is the only device connected.
I will provide you with more information, if needed.

I'd need to see an example of the security and encryption plus the wireless cannel you are using.

Xirrus WiFi inspector is a good program for this. If you can post a screen shot of the read out you get from Xirrus it would be helpful. :)

It's WPA2-PSK, 802.11g
I tried switching channels but I saw no improvement so I stuck with the default (ch6).

There are many people using channel 6 in your area, you might have better luck using channel 1 which is the cleanest channel in your area.

Channels overlap each other by about two channels in either direction, this is so they can gain bandwidth from the surrounding channels. So picking a channel furthest away from the ones being used works well.

I don't see any other problems that might cause the wireless to randomly disconnect.

Using ch1 my signal drops to -70.
Thank you for trying to help, mate. :)

Regardless of the signal strength, if you keep using channel 6 you will keep seeing the connection drop outs because channel 6 is very crowded in your area. Try channel 11 and see how that works.
