What are all the Hosts Content URLs? I've never visited any of those.

Uninstall Spybot which no one has recommended for ten years.

You will get and keep a perfect install to the exact extend you stick with the tools and methods given.

I would use one of the bootable AV scans to check your system one more time from boot so nothing can hide in running processes. This is especially important for your data drive which I would consider quarantined until you scan it with a bootable with the SSD unplugged, then after reinstall scan it first thing with Malwarebytes.

Thanks for all the help, I have to go to work soon so I won't bother making any changes until later tonight.

Do you guys think these problems were likely caused by some infection? Seems strange that nothing was detected through numerous scans, no alerts or anything.

I'm slightly confused, how do I scan my data drive with 'bootable' (not sure how to do this) and scan with SSD unplugged?

Will check back after work tonight, read the links in previous post, and most likely start a wipe and fresh install *sigh*

The bootable AV's are in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219533-troubleshooting-windows-7-failure-boot.html. They need to be downloaded, burned to CD with Windows Image Burner, then booted to scan the HD's.

I'd do a separate scan of only the data drive if you decide to wipe the SSD to reinstall Win7.

You can wipe the SSD using Diskpart Clean Command from the installer's Command Line accessing http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/119713-diskpart-pc-startup.html?ltr=D

Then follow the steps in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html

you can also make a bootable usb from an elevated command prompt

1.in start type cmd, right click it and press run as administrator
2.type diskpart
3.type list disk (make sure to choose your usb! the size is shown in mb so you should be able to tell which is which)
4.type select disk ...(... standing for the drive number of your usb)
5. type clean
6. type create partition primary
7. type format fs=ntfs quick (ntfs is recommended for speed, but you can also do fat32)
8.type active
9.type assign
this is the best method for me for just a quick use bootable usb

If SSD Unplugged comes in an iso file, after these steps you can just extract the iso with winrar or 7-zip directly the usb. hope this helps

Hey guys, sorry it's taken so long to respond, I've been swamped lately and am finally going to work on my computer today. Thanks for all the advice!

So I think I'm going to go ahead and wipe both my boot SSD drive as well as my data HDD. I don't have much saved on the data HDD whatsoever since it is a fairly new PC, and I'd rather just have a completely fresh system.

So now I'd just like to make sure I have all the steps right:

1- Burn Win 7 SP1 ISO & Media Refresh to USB via http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164

2- Wipe data HDD with "clean" diskpart command and unplug http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/52129-disk-clean-clean-all-diskpart-command.html

3- Wipe SSD with "clean" diskpart command (same as above)

4- Reformat SSD and do a clean install http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164

5- Reinstall AV & other programs

6- Make a damn Backup image so I don't have to do this again!

Do I have all the steps correct for completely wiping drives and starting over? Anything else I should do? Any special advice for wiping the SSD (I heard wiping can reduce the drive's life?)

I did just notice this thread however, which seems to encompass all the problems I've been having? Unhide.exe - A introduction as to what this program does - Am I infected? What do I do?

I did notice this. Post #6. Malwarebytes Anti Malware blocked the site with a warning. I do believe it is some sort of Registry optimizer.

Download a new FRST

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

64-Bit Version OS Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 <===== Download Link

Drag the FRST64.exe from the Downloads folder to your Desktop

Right click on

FRST64.exe and choose

When the tool opens click Yes on the disclaimer window .

Press Scan button.

FRST will let you know when the scan is complete and has written the FRST.txt to file

   Note

The first time Farbar Recovery Scan Tool is run, it makes also another log Addition.txt

Please upload both logs in your reply.(FRST.txt and Addition.txt)

Upload a File
Click on the Go Advanced button under the Message box . Scroll down to Additional Options then click on Manage Attachments in the Attach Files sections . Click the Browse button locate the file then click on the Open button . In the Upload File from your Computer section click on the Upload button . Wait until it finishes uploading then close the window . Then click Submit Reply .

On RogueKiller can you click on the Shortcuts tab then click on Fix Shortcut button ?

But no change with taskbar links or start menu programs or anything..

I'd recommend a clean install . Remove the second hard drive first so the second drive won't get the System reserved partition .
