My browser keeps dropping out. Starts by jerky response then freezes up and then tells me the browser is
not responding. I swapped fro IE to Google Chrome but no improvement. I have run CCleaner, Malware bytes and Bullguard but only found a few innocent looking cookies.
Hope you people can help.
Best regards Ken.

Hi
Use Clean boot, http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ation-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html
Click Start and type in the search box,
msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
Cheers.

Things have deteriorated. I left the effected desktop on overnight carrying out yet another Bullguard antivirus scan. Only thing that was found was a tracking cookie but when I tried to carry out the msconfig procedure you recommended it the pc locked out on the disable all instruction. I waited about 20 minutes but the restart prompt never appeared. I eventually tried the apply and OK button's but this produced the windows revolving circle. I waited a while then decided to force a restart and I am left with the logging off screen and the revolving circle. This has been going on for about an hour and so I going to try a cold boot and the inevitable safe start. I will let you know how I get on.
Best regards Ken.

Also Bit Rader ? I have no idea what that is but uninstall it too.
Bonjour has also been known to cause problems so you might want to uninstall it too,
Be sure to Recheck the item on the startup section Before uninstalling the items otherwise you'll end up with an Unknown item listing after uninstalling them
In Steam settings you can Uncheck Start with windows.

Hi,
Keep one or the other antivirus and get rid of the other
If Norton is just a free version that your isp offered get rid of it or upgrade it to a paid service,
Then you can get rid of Bull guard which frankly I've never heard of.
And it's never a good idea to have 2 antivirus programs installed free or not,
They will conflict and you'll be less secure not better secure

'Bull Guard' is provided with new Chill Blast PCs on a three months free trial. I found it so good I went onto pay the annual subscription. I find the support excellent. On the odd occasions when I have had virus issues the service was quick, effective and friendly as indeed is the support supplied by Chill Blast.
As you have deduced the 'Norton Parental Control' is provided by my ISP EE and is described as only that 'Parental Control'. I am not aware of any anti virus content.
I originally tried to unsuccessfully install the 'Microsoft Family Suite' but was then advised to try the one supplied by my ISP. If you feel it will be beneficial I will uninstall the 'Norton' and have another go at the 'Microsoft Suite'.
Best regards Ken.

I have uninstalled Norton but the Microsoft Parental Control just doesn't do the job for some reason. As you can see from the screen shots it appears to be switched on and stopping adult content but it isn't. Totally obscene sites can be visited by simply typing a four letter word into the yahoo search bar.
My PC continues to run well and so the initial problem is solved (thanks again). Should I start another thread?
Best regards Ken.

Problem solved. I struggled with Microsoft for hours just going round and round in circles then discovered I had parental control as part of my Bull Guard suite. Everything is working perfectly now.
Much appreciated.
