BSOD When Syncing music to iPod and Transferring Large Amounts of Data

Hello forum! I've been having this problem for the past couple of months. When syncing music to my iPod (attempting to transfer about 54gbs worth of music) I've been getting a BSOD halfway through the process. I've tried this at least 10 times with the same results each time. I've been having the same issue when trying to movie movies and tv shows to an external hard drive.

Attached is a picture BSOD I'm getting and the debug folder.

There aren't any .dmp files in your attachment. These are required to analyse the BSODs.

Follow these steps:

1. Configure Windows to create minidumps:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/174459-dump-files-configure-windows-create-bsod.html

2. Set the paging file on C: to be the same size as the physically installed RAM:
Virtual Memory Paging File - Change

3. Set the Windows Error Reporting service to MANUAL:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2495-services-start-disable.html

picture.php

4. Test to see that dump files are created:
- Open Windows Task Manager
- Navigate to the Processes tab
- Right-click on explorer.exe, and click Create Dump File

picture.php

- Note the location of the saved file

picture.php

- Check that location and confirm that explorer.dmp exists

All I found was the attached file. And the explorer dump I did earlier.

I got the BSOD again, ran the DM Log Collector and once it finished the folder (still not a zipped folder) disappeared from my desktop and i can't find it. All I found in my temp folder related to it was what I have attached.

Can you follow this to double check you're set to write Small Minidumps.

  1. Open Advanced System Settings
  2. Click on Settings in Startup & Recovery
  3. Make sure both boxes indicated below are checked
  4. In the dropdown box ensure you're set to record Small Memory Dumps

Gav, I have a few minutes so decided to stop in and have a quick look.

If you don't get any .dmp files after confirmation in post #15, then I would look at MSE/other AV suites to see if its "holding" onto the dump write to disk:

This item is often associated with AVG, Panda and Kaspersky - not 100% sure about MSE, but then I found this:
Code:

Perhaps uninstall then reinstall????

If that doesnt help then it may be the hard disk - 0x7A's are often associated with failing HDD if there is also a 0xF4 (which we don't yet? have).

There are a few of these, but not sure what device it is referring to:

I followed the instructions in post #15. Strange thing I found was that that "non" was selected for writing debug information, but I had previously chosen for it to do the small memory dump when I was previously instructed too. Should I go through and try the DM Log Collector again? Or uninstall and then reinstall MSE first?
