Hi, I have a hp laptop nearly 4 years old that I updated adobe, a.v.g. And something else all in one sitting. I was using it when I received a bad pool header error I think.
Upon restart it will load until you get to the window with green bar and the I get the same message bad_pool_header 0x00000019
I have tried every option under f8 and are unable to get the computer to boot. safe mode does not work, it starts loading the drivers and then gets to the same spot and hangs then a blue screen and restarts.
Windows start up repair runs till the same spot and then gives me the same message
The windows repair disk that came with the computer is an upgrade from vista to 7, does boot but just loads the windows driver's and then gets to the same spot and gives the same message.
I have tried a USB boot disk but still get no repair options it just loads the windows driver's and does the same as above. The USB boot disk is a .iso file off windows site.

Boot to System Recovery Options . Try Safe Mode with Command Prompt. In the command prompt .... enter the command ....

start msconfig

It will open the system configuration window, with the "general" tab selected.

  • Click the "startup" tab. Click "Disable all" > Apply > OK.
  • Click on "services" tab. Check the "Hide all Microsoft Services"; Click "Disable all" > Apply > OK
Then try to boot again normally. Is it failing still?

Are are suggested to use "safe mode with command prompt" .... that is different from "safe mode". Have a try.

Otherwise go for a clean install.

The problem is, running multiple threads on a same issue is not allowed as per forum rules. You should continue here.

If any form of safe mode does not work, you may follow it:
Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

Let us know the results.
