Hi

My girlfriends new laptop (Compaq CQ71 - 2.2ghz Core Duo, 4 gbRAM, 64bit Win7 Home) has been crashing since the beginning with the BSOD OxOOOOOO7f.
I have done some research and have not found a solution to this problem.
Mostly they're talking about memory or motherboard errors.
I have attached the minidump file.

Looking forward to a reply
Arno

ps: The minidump file was last written on dec 12th 2009, the errors have been happening frequently since that day, however no new minidump was made. Is this normal?

The dump you posted reports a different error code 9F to the one you state 7F, heres a bit more info about the two

normally a 7F error would indicate hardware problem as theres also 9F codes i would think its a device driver causing the issue, dump points at NETw1v64.sys, try updating this driver

Will post back more info shortly

Hello Arno, Welcome to SF,

I guess the problem is with your Intel Wifi Network Card NETw1v64.sys uninstall the existing drivers and Download the Latest driver from manufacture's website NOT from Windows Update. Also found that some of the Display drivers are not registered properly i would recommend to remove those existing drivers and install from manufacture's website NOT from Windows Update.

Run the Memory Diagnostic & HD Diagnostic
Also i would recommend to run System Integrity Checker

Start > Run > CMD > Right Click and Run as administrator > SFC/ SCANNOW

Drivers to be Update

Google it you will find the updates. Make sure you download them from manufactures website not from any third party website.

Here's a listing of drivers from an HP - you'll find that most of the drivers are the same for your Compaq.
This is because HP/Compaq uses one disk image to load the system onto many different hardware configurations - so the drivers are loaded even if they're not needed.

From an HP DV4 laptop:
Here's the older drivers. Please note that the oldest drivers are listed first:
Code:
iirsp.sys Tue Dec 13 16:48:01 2005 - Intel Raid StorPort Driver
djsvs.sys Tue Apr 11 20:20:11 2006 - Adaptec Ultra SCSI miniport
nfrd960.sys Tue Jun 06 17:12:15 2006 - IBM ServeRAID Controller Driver
adpu320.sys Tue Feb 27 19:03:08 2007 - Adaptec .NET Ultra320 Driver
adpahci.sys Tue May 01 13:29:26 2007 - Adaptec Windows SATA Storport Driver
arc.sys Thu May 24 17:31:06 2007 - Adaptec RAID Storport Driver
SiSRaid2.sys Wed Sep 24 14:19:45 2008 - SiS RAID Stor Miniport Driver
sisraid4.sys Wed Oct 01 17:52:22 2008 - SiS AHCI Stor-Miniport Driver
adp94xx.sys Fri Dec 05 18:59:55 2008 - Adaptec HostRAID SAS Driver
lsi_fc.sys Tue Dec 09 17:28:47 2008 - LSI Logic Fusion-MPT FC Driver (StorPort)
As this is an HP system, it's likely that you're not using all of these storage drivers - but it will depend on the storage chipset of your system to determine which one's are needed.
