BSOD 0x00000124 after BIOS update on Gigabyte H87-UD3

Hello everyone,

I built some months ago a new desktop computer. But I got some different BSOD. So, I tried to fix them by updating drivers, testing RAM with Memtest, testing Hard Drive and use MalwareByte to find threats. But I still have the problem. Yesterday, I found on Gigabyte website that Core i5 4430 processor needs F8 BIOS to work correctly. I updated the Gigabyte BIOS from F5 version to F8 version. I did a BIOS backup before doing this. Now, I have the folowing problem: I had two BSOD (one yesterday evening and one this morning). Both are 0x00000124 BSOD. I think they are BIOS-update related.

How can I solve my problem ? I put in attachement all the files generated by DM Log Collector.

0x124's are usually always hardware errors.

Run this CPU stress test on the VERY HIGH TEST setting and upload a screen capture image once it is complete:

I'll do the test but 0x124 happened only after the BIOS update.

I appreciate that, but the logical solution seems to roll-back the BIOS update, which you probably will not want to do. Hence I can only make a suggestion based on the 0x124 bugcheck. The CPU seems like a good starting point

I did the stress test in Very High mode. I got no problems, no BSOD. I put the screenshot in attachement.

I realized a BIOS backup to restore it if needed.

OK. Do you have a link to the information about the F8 version of the BIOS I could read?

Here is where I found the F8 BIOS: GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-H87-HD3 (rev. 1.x)

I flashed the BIOS using Gigabyte @BIOS yesterday. I applied "Load default settings" this morning to try to correct the issue, but nothing changed.

The only thing I can suggest is to roll back to the previous version of BIOS if possible. Take care when you do that.

I tried to roll back the BIOS, but it's not possible. I have a message which indicates that I can't do it! I think the only solution is to replace the motherboard by a brand new one. Another thing I noticed these days is that the BSOD only appears when the computer is idling (standby, one internet explorer window, one word document, ...). The BSOD doesn't occur when a game is launched, for example.

Take care when you do that.

Roll back the BIOS is more dangerous than update it?
