Hi all

My good lady has been having some problems with her computer. so i did a fresh install of windows 7 on her pc and a few days ago she got a BSOD. The pc rough specs are

AMD FX-8120 stock clock
8 gb of ram 1333Mhz
3 sata HDD - 2 x 120GB 5400rpm 1 x 120GB 7200rpm
evga 550 TI soc
gigabyte motherboard

all the drivers are up to date i believe. i thought that a fresh install would sort out all the problems but i guess not, witch got me thinking that it could be a hardware issue maybe but im not to sure and thats why i am here. i have used the DM Log Collector and attached the file to the post.

thanks for your time
i didnt no where else to go :)

Hi LoneBear,

Welcome to the 7forums.

First of all, thank you for the excellent job with filling in your system specs :)

Please remove the Gigabyte software, the Gigabyte software is known for causing various of problems.
Please check the manufacturer of the motherboard (Gigabyte) for BIOS updates.

Unfortunately, after many tries I can't read the dump file properly what makes that its information cannot be trusted.
This could be due to hardware problems.
(Soon I will give it a few extra tries to read the dump file.)
Please follow instructions below for testing the hardware, if there are any questions please don't hesitate to ask them.

Diagnostics Troubleshooting

Read carefully before proceeding.

   Warning
warnsmall.png
If you're overclocking your system, revert back to stock clocks now.

   Note
Test the system once the overclock is removed before continuing with the steps outlined below.

Part One: CPU Stress Test
Part Two: MemTest86+ RAM Diagnostic
Part Three: Hard Drive Diagnostics
Part Four: GPU Stress Test

ONE

 CPU TEST

arrow.png
Run Prime95 to stress test your CPU. Prime95 - Stress Test Your CPU - Windows 7 Help Forums

   Warning
Your CPU temperatures will rise quickly while under this stress test. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if overheating occurs.

TWO

 RAM TEST

arrow.png
Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 7 Help Forums

   Note
picture.php

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

THREE

 HDD TEST

arrow.png
Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. SeaTools - HDD test - Windows 7 Help Forums

   Note
Do not run SeaTools on an SSD as the results will be invalid.

arrow.png
Run chkdsk Chkdsk - HDD Test - Windows 7 Help Forums

FOUR

 GPU TEST

arrow.png
Run Furmark to stress test your GPU. FurMark - GPU Stress Test - Windows 7 Help Forums

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.

   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if overheating occurs.

Thank you for reporting the broken link, I have fixed it
Also the link for chkdsk again just in case.

Unfortunately, the dump is the same as in the first uploaded zip file.
This is not due to problems with uploading if you might have thought it.

hello again

its results time, im still waiting for the CPU test to finish but everything seems to be good.

Ram - i ran the test over night like i said witch was about 12 hours with no errors, i was abit of a shock about that expecting the worse.
GPU - i done 3 tests on furmark and the 1st test BSOD with a stop code of 0x03B(mini dump attached) but i did do it again (custom test) and it worked fine getting a 80'c max temp. i did it again using the 720p preset and it came back fine scoring it at 1659 -27fps and a max temp of 80'c again.
HDD - i run the seatool and done all the tests running from short to advanced with no problems, also just finished doing the chkdsk on all 3 drives witched showed no errors. witch again shocked me as the hdds are about 10 years or so and still going strong.

i am in the process of testing the the CPU using prime 95 witch i doubt anything will show up, if anything it'll most likely be an over heat issue but i doubt it as shes running an Arctic freezer 7 Pro and not a stock fan, but ill update is anything changes.

the fact that the GPU test BSOD makes me believe that it could be problem but ill let you decide with the minidump.

is there anymore info or anything i can do to help please let me know.

thanks again for all your time.

What it exactly means I am not sure, I am not quite of an expert with hardware but do know enough for troubleshooting.
What it basically means is that your CPU is causing trouble, if it is the only cause we cannot yet say.

ok so my gf cpu is on the blink. im guess that workers = cores? if im right she has a problem with core 5 and 7 after 3 hours core 7 had the same issue as core 5 with the FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5 expecting less then 0.4.
after 6 hours of cpu testing 2 out of 8 cores failed.

by any chance is there away of making the cpu more stable? would you think that underclocking her cpu work better? or do you think its a total loss?

Please do me a favor and check the site of Intel (again) for CPU driver updates.
Other then drivers, I cannot think of anything else that might help.
