Solved BSOD 100% after login every time, error 0x00000124

I hadn't restarted my PC for a few days, but now when I do so I get BSOD every time, a few moments after logging in. At the time the MS OneDrive and ESET NOD32 splash screens are visible. I can boot into safe mode (from which I ran dm log collector).

System restore fails every time with error: system restore did not complete successfully... I've tried in safe mode and it looks to have completed but on restart I get the dialogue "system restore did not complete successfully" briefly before the BSOD occurs again.

I've had a look in BlueScreenView and it looks like hal.dll, but I don't know how to dig any further. Thanks very much for any help diagnosing this one.

OK. So I followed the instructions atHow to Analyse Bugcheck and Process Crash Dumps and after clicking !analyze -v it looked like the problem might have been with ESET

BUGCHECK_STR:  0x124_GenuineIntel

CUSTOMER_CRASH_COUNT:  1

DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID:  WIN7_DRIVER_FAULT

PROCESS_NAME:  ekrn.exe

I uninstalled ESET and all of the GIGABYTE bloatware in safe mode, but to do that I had to download and install SafeMSI (I didn't spot the handy tutorial on this site)

I've installed Microsoft Security Essentials instead, but will try to re-install ESET later.
