i have a new computer (i7 930 system running windows 7 64bit, 5770 xxx graphics card)

i am not overclocked and I got this error from running the far cry 2 benchmark overnight (although viewing the timestamp reveals it happened 20 minutes after it started. i have been able to run memtest86+ and prime95 for 12 hours and 18 hours respectively with no crash and i also ran the same far cry 2 benchmark for an hour and a half with no crash earlier in the evening.

BSOD code 124 caused by address: ntoskrnl.exe+4a63cc

my temps are 55c under max load on CPU and around 80c on my GPU and this was a fresh boot with no other programs running.

any help is appreciated...

its so bizarre because i have stress tested my CPU and ram for 30 hours and havent found any errors. the only thing i havent pulled yet is my videocard and PSU... this problem is seriously ruining my life!

here's the run down of what i did:

i built the computer and installed windows 7, adjusted the ram timings to set my RAM to their correct speeds and everything was running fine (in games and web browsing) for a couple of days.

I then gently overclocked my video card and cpu and tried to play a game online and got a Grey Screen of Death associated with ATI 5xxx cards. I clocked everything back down to stock speeds and the problem persisted (where games ONLINE would crash within 10 minutes of playing). I looked in my case and noticed that the 4 pin part of the 20+4 pin connector from my PSU had fallen out of the motherboard. I plugged it back in and also changed my RAM timings back to auto in the bios. The grey screen went away entirely and I was able to play games for extended periods online again.

I thought my problems were over but I ran multiple stress tests including prime95 for 16 hours, memtest86 for 8 hours, furmark GPU for 4 hours and was unable to cause any instability. I felt very confident that the problems were fixed but I entered an online game (world at war) and left it in spectator mode in a heavily populated server and went AFK. When i returned the computer had rebooted due to a BSOD error referencing 0x0000009C: MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION.

I ran all the stress tests again and couldn't replicate the error so i wrote it off as a fluke. I was crash free for 2 days but i was not comfortable so I ran the far cry 2 benchmark on loop overnight and it crashed after an hour to the desktop with no errors noted. The next day i uninstalled and cleaned off the 10.3 catalyst drivers and installed the 10.3b catalyst drivers, ran furmark for an hour and ran Far Cry 2 benchmark for 2 hours with no crash. Believing the issue was finally resolved, I left another test of Far Cry 2 benchmark on loop overnight.

I woke up this morning with a BSOD that happened 20 minutes after I started the benchmark, it was the 0x124 code i posted above.

I turned of speedstep in my bios and am running another far cry 2 benchmark test right now to see if that was the issue...

I've been having same problem as you last couple of months. My combo is the same, i7 930 windows 7 pro 64b, hd5770, ga-ex58-ud5.

I get bsod 124 only with Battlefield Vietnam and Webroot Antivirus. Apart from these two programmes, everything else runs fine.

When I boot up in windows xp mode (dual boot, not in win 7), I can run these two normally. But I dont want to boot up in xp, I want to run it in 7.

Like you, ive run memtest and have taken parts back to dealer to get tested and everything works and runs as it should. Its REALLY FRUSTRATING!

There's a compability issue here somewhere (code or hardware) and I wish someone would fix it.

Everything i have is updated, drivers, windows.

Bye.
